Why We Keep The Law
"But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments" (Matthew 19:17).
Some read a couple of scriptures, and then draw conclusions without considering what many other scriptures say about the same subject. Then, based on these faulty assumptions, they condemn others who practice things different from themselves. Let's look at a couple of scriptures that are commonly misunderstood and misapplied:
"For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.
For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them'" (Ephesians 2:8-10).
"Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by law is the knowledge of sin" (Romans 3:20).
Many read the first parts of these verses, but do not take note of what is written in the latter parts. They simply think, "Well, since it is only by grace and faith, and since one cannot be justified by keeping the law, there is no reason to keep it."
Such people are suffering spiritual blindness because they do not consider the whole truth of God's Word. If they did, then they would see ample reasons for striving to keep every single one of God's laws as they apply to us.

Four Reasons For Keeping the Commandments
The first reason to keep them is because God's Word tells us to do so. God tells us that He is holy, and wants us to be holy as well.
"{B}ut as He who called you holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, "Be holy, for I am holy" (1 Peter 1:15-16).
"Beloved, do not imitate what is evil, but is good. He does good is of God, but he who does evil has not seen God" (3 John 1:11).
{D}o not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises" (Hebrews 6:12).
"There simply is no excuse for anyone who reads God's Word to reason around the essential truth that we must strive to obey God's commandments to the best of our ability, and with God's help.

Psalm 1-6
Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither-whatever they do prospers. Not so wicked! They are not like chaff that the wind blows away. Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked leads to destruction.
Did Jesus promise that He would come to earth a second time?
"....I go to prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also" (John 14:2-3).
"For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him the Son of Man also will be ashamed when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels" (Mark 8:38).
"Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect" (Luke 12:40).
"Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory" (Luke 21:27).
Jesus repeatedly referred to His second coming in His statements and parables.

THE LORD'S COVENANT PROMISE TO ABRAM
God's flood did not wash away sin completely. Sin spreads until people one again live in open defiance of God. Still, God loves his world and wants to reconnect with it. So he finds a new man, Abram, and makes a covenant with him. He promises to bless Abram, and makes a covenant with him. He promises to bless Abram, and through him, God will bless the whole world. Abram believes and obeys God; as a result his whole life changes. But as God's big story continues, Abram grows anxious that he has no son to inherit God's blessings. Then one day Abram has a vision from the Lord.

Blasphemy Against the Holy Spirit
Jesus said, "All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men. And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him..." (Matthew 12:31,32).
What did Jesus mean when He spoke of "blasphemy against the Holy Spirit"? Is it a sin for which repentance will do no good?
But what about this "blasphemy against the Holy Spirit"
Why is it unforgivable?
Thus far we have seen that the only unpardonable sin is the unrepented-of sin. Murder, adultery, blasphemy, idolatry, lust-all are unpardonable-until repented of!
But what about this "blasphemy against the Holy Spirit"; is it a sin for which repentance will do no good?
Jesus warned the Pharisees of the gravity of this sin after they had attributed the work of the Holy Spirit to "Beelzebub" (verse 24). In other words, they were saying that the power-source of Jesus' miracles was Satan the devil-thus, blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.
But why is this blasphemy against the Holy Spirit any worse than sins? Why is it unforgivable?
The Pharisee Nicodemus gives us a clue:
"There was a man of the Pharisees, names Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto Him, Rabbi, WE KNOW that thou art a teacher from God: for no man can do these miracles that doest, except God be with him" (John 3:1,2).

The Man and Woman of Sin
Adam and Eve are free to roam, to enjoy the garden and the animals, and to walk and talk with God. They live with only one restriction-to not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. But they choose to defy God and eat the tree's fruit. Then sin enters the world; it divides everything and uncertainty reigns.
Adam and Eve are separated from God, but God continues to love them, Even through sin enters the world, changing everything, God's big story continues.

Orders for Public Worship
The chief end of man is to glorify God in worship and in dedicated service. The primary ministry of the church is public worship. In worship man receives vision, inspiration, guidance, and strength for living the dedicated life. Worship is both private and corporate. The individual Christian brings his own contribution to corporate worship and in turn receives additional edification and strength from his fellow worshipers.
In the Bible, worship is presented as a disciplined activity of God's people as they adore him and celebrate his acts in history. Although worship is a direct conscious experience between God and man, this experience is mediated by certain objective elements. God mediates his revelation to man through his words and his actions. Man responds with his words and his actions. Man responds with words and acts through a certain orderliness in public worship.
Guiding Principles
Order and spontaneity are linked in the church's worship of God. Suggested orders are meant to be aids and restrictions. God the Holy Spirit moves as he will in the experiences of men. Men are free to respond to God in a spontaneous manner.
Worship is a dialogue between God and man. God takes the initiative and man responds. Then man comes for public worship he acts toward God and God responds to him.
The act of worship includes adoration and praise, thanksgiving, confession, petitions and intercessions, and active commitment in service. In Christian worship, recognition of the lordship of Christ is a primary goal of the church.
Worship is expressed symbolically through words, actions, music, and other art forms. The various means for expressing worship are the reading of the Scriptures, the singing of hymns and anthems, the offering of prayers, the proclamation of the gospel of grace, and the presentation of offerings, including material things and the lives of God's people. The Scriptures exhort, "Present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship" (see Rom. 12:1, RSV).

Characteristics of Youth
According to the Bible, we are combinations of our heredity and environment. We are born with a human nature, that spirit unique to man, differentiating us from animals. And, although we are not born as sinners, we are born with a natural capacity for human selfishness. If our parents do not work with us to curb our selfish, immature demands, that selfishness can become increasingly dangerous to others. In Genesis 8:21, God told Noah after the Flood that "the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth. "Without the help of parents, mentors, and God, our hearts and minds would be supremely selfish, no matter what our generation.

Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim you, who walk in the light of your presence, O Lord. Psalm 89:15
Pharaoh-Son of God
The ancient Egyptian Pharaoh was, in this life, revered as The Name-that is, the heir-of the god Osiris. He was Horus, son of Osiris. When he died, he passed into the realm of the dead with the setting sun and became "one" with his father Osiris. He then traveled through the underworld-the Egyptian version of hell-to the foot of the Mountain of God, where he was judged. After being found guiltless, the Pharaoh (who was now Osiris) went up the Mountain and ascended to Heaven to assume the throne as king of the blessed dead.
According to Egyptian mythology, the deceased Pharaoh (who carried The name Horus in this life)
always became Osiris and attained resurrection from the dead. He thus provided opportunity for resurrection to ordinary Egyptians, who likewise sought resurrection in and through him. They believed that any believer who successfully attained the resurrection did so by becoming "one" with Osiris, the ancient Pharaoh had died and had been resurrected.
In the burial ritual described in the last chapter, the Nile River represented the obstacle presented by the "Sea of Reeds" in the underworld. By transporting the deceased king"s body across the Nile, the priests intended to ensure that his soul safely crossed the "Sea of Reeds" in the underworld. The boat that carried the body corresponded to that of the divine boatman who services the deceased's soul had to acquire when it reached the "Sea of Reeds."

What The Bible Has To Say About...
Leading Some One To Christ
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. Romans 3:23-24
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord . Romans 6:23
Jesus answered, "I am the way and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." John 14:6
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-not by works, so that no one can boast. Ephesians 2:8-9
Psalm 40:11-17
Do not withhold your mercy from me, LORD; may your love and faithfulness always protect me. For troubles without number surround me; my sins have overtaken me, and I cannot see. They are more than the hairs of my head, and my heart fails within me. Be pleased to save me, Lord; come quickly, Lord, to help me. May all who want take my life be put to shame and confusion; may all who desire my ruin be turned back in disgrace. May those who say to me, "Aha! Aha!" be appalled at their own shame. But may all who seek you rejoice and be glad in you; may those who love your saving help always say "The LORD is great! But as for me, I am poor and needy; may the Lord think of me. You are my help and my deliverer; you are my God, do not delay.
Christ is the Revelator
In some Bibles, the book of Revelation is titled "The Revelation of Saint John the Divine." It is important to remember that this title was added by men, and not the original text. In fact, the very first verse flatly contradicts this humanly devised title, explaining that this book is the revelation of Jesus Himself, which He received from the Father.
When Jesus Christ walked the earth, He frequently talked about the future. However, He never did so in a speculative or wishful sense. He spoke authoritatively, because He had come directly from the Father and spoke the words that the Father gave Him, not mere human ideas (John 14:24).
Jesus Christ came with a message: the good news about God's coming kingdom and how we could become part of that kingdom (Mark 1:14-15). Yet when He was here on earth almost 2,000 years ago, He did not establish that kingdom. Only days before His crucifixion, as He traveled to Jerusalem one last time, He spoke a parable to His disciples, who mistakenly thought that the kingdom would immediately appear. Jesus told a story about a young nobleman who first had to go away into a far country to be invested with kingly power, before returning to possess his kingdom (Luke 19:11-12).
In Revelation, as in the Gospels, it is vital to remember that Christ is the Revelator.

Visible Faith
It is not always easy to confess our faith openly. Some will mock it. Some Christians have even died because they were openly displaying their faith. But if the Christian faith is the truth, then what good is it if people can't see it?
In Matthew 5, Jesus says it this way: "You are the light of the world...Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven"(vv.14-16).-John Koedyker
Power
By Rev. Pat Veenema
Our spiritual power of dominion is not to be used on others, but on our own egoic self. As we mature spiritually, we claim dominion over our actions. We need not victim of what we think. We can surrender the concept of weakness and claim our divine power to be become the Christ Consciousness expressing.
We can, in the words of apostle Paul, transform ourselves through the renewing of our minds. The power to choose our thoughts is our birthright.
The power of dominion is centered in the body above the powers of love and wisdom. In meditation, focus on your throat, chest, and belly, integrating love and wisdom into the power as you grow into your true self.
Centered in the consciousness exemplified by Jesus, our Way Shower, we are powerful spiritual beings.

What Is Sin?
Notice how the Bible defines sin: "Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness" (1 John 3:4). Or, as the King James Version puts it, "sin is the transgression of the law." According to the Bible, sin is simply breaking any of God's commandments.

The Ten Commandments
1 "I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. You shall have no other gods before Me" Exodus 20:2-3.
2 "You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in the heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments" Exodus 2o:4-6.
3 "You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain" Exodus 20:7.
4 "Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it" Exodus 20:8-11.
5 "Honor your father and mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the LORD your God is giving you" Exodus 20:12.
6 "You shall not murder" Exodus 20:13.
7 "You shall not commit adultery" Exodus 20:14.
8 "You shall not steal" Exodus 20:15.
9 "You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor" Exodus 20:16.
10 "You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor's" Exodus 20:17.
The Feast of Pentecost
The Feast of Weeks is so named because it comes seven weeks after the day of the wave-sheaf offering Exodus 34:22; Leviticus 23:15-22. The day also came to be called Pentecost, meaning "fiftieth" in Greek, as people are specifically told to count 50 days to it verse 16; Acts 2:1.
This feast, which anciently centered on the wave offering of two leavened loaves of the firstfruits of wheat, pictures the presentation before God of His people in this age as spiritual firstfruits
see Romans 8:23, James 1:18. It further represents the conversion of God's people through the Holy Spirit, which was given to the early Church in a powerful way on the day of Pentecost, anticipating yet later fulfillment in this age Acts 2:1-4,17.
Pentecost points to the first harvest of humanity in God's plan for salvation, with expectation of a later harvest ahead.

Apocalypse
It is not unrealistic to say our world is on a collision course with catastrophe. More and more we're hearing about apocalyptic conclusions to humanity's story, as radical degeneracy becomes the accepted standard and enforced lifestyle in Western societies.
The good news is that the nativity assures us a loving God has exposed the final apostasy and introduced a higher hope immune to destruction. The road to the future, one might say, goes up or down. In Christ, the way always goes up or down. But the road heads downward for those who reject the true and living God and influence nations to do likewise. In the end, their legacy will be nothing more than a footnote in history.

GENESIS
AUTHOR
Although the author of Genesis is not identified in the book, its integral part in the Pentateuch (Genesis-Deuteronomy) suggests that the author of these five books was the same person. The books of the Pentateuch give evidence of unity through their common plot, theme (divine promises), central figure (Moses), and literary interconnections. Jewish and Christian traditions attribute the Pentateuch to Moses, whose life paralleled the events of Exodus-Deuteronomy (cp.2 Ch 23:18, Lk 16: 29,31; Ac 28:23).
Passages in Exodus-Deuteronomy testify that Moses authored diverse materials (Ex 17:14; Nm 33:2; Dt 31:9,22). Although we cannot be certain about the contents of the "book of the law {of Moses}" (Jos 1:1-8:31; 23:6; 2 Kg 14:6), its association with Moses established a "psychology of canonicity" that set pattern of divinely authoritative writings (Nm 12:6-8; Dt 18:15; 34:10). Scholars have usually recognized that minor post-Mosaic contributions must exist in the Pentateuch, such as the report of Moses' death (Dt 34). Some have contended that the first-person ("I") sections were written by Moses and that another author set them in a third-person ("Moses") narrative frame. Prior to the nineteenth century, the consensus remained that Moses wrote the essential whole, probably during the wilderness sojourn.

Genesis
The Reliability of Genesis
Since the events of Genesis preceded Moses, this raises the question of where he got his information. For most of the Christian era, the principal explanation was divine revelation coupled with the availability of written records, such as genealogies and stories.
Gradually, though, by the nineteeth century, a new consensus arose among "critical" scholars. They believed that the Pentateuch was the product of a series of unamed Jewish editors who progressively stitched together pieces of preexisting sources dating from the tenth to the sixth centuries,B.C. Instead of being Mosaic, the Pentateuch was viewed as a mosaic. Such scholars today often view the stories in the Bible's first five books as fabrications conceived hundreds of years after the supposed events, perhaps during the exile.
There is significant evidence, however, that Genesis reflects the political and cultural setting of the second millennium B.C. The structure and contents of chapters 1-11 generally parallel the Babylonian epic Atrahasis (c. 1600 B.C.). Social and religious practices among the patriarchs correlate better with the earlier period than with the first millennium B.C.. For example, Abraham's marriage to his half-sister Sarah was prohibited under the Mosaic Law (20:12; Lv 18:9). It is unlikely that the Jews of the exilic period would have fabricated offensive events or preserved such stories unless these were already well-entrenched traditions. Also the prevalent use of El compounds for the name of God (e.g., God Almighty-El Shaddai, 17:1) in Genesis contrasts with their virtual absence in first-millennium B.C. texts. The tolerant attitude toward Gentiles and unrestricted travels of the patriarchs do not suit the later setting. The evidence, when considered as a whole, supports the position that Genesis remembers authentic events.

Psalm 66: 1 Shout for joy to God, all the earth!
What Jesus foretold
By some counts, Jesus Christ gave approximately 100 recorded prophecies of the future during His ministry. Many were about His eventual return to the earth and other endtime events.
Many others were about what would happen soon after He spoke-His arrest, trial, suffering, death and resurrection. In part He was trying to prepare His disciples for all that would come. But more than that, His prophecies combined with their exact fulfillments constitute further proof that He was exactly who He claimed to be.

Q Isn't true that God can give His Holy Spirit to a person who has not been baptized?
A It is true that God can give His Holy Spirit to a person though a person has not been baptized. However, that fact is aside from the real question. However, that fact is aside from the real question. The real question is Should a repentant believer be baptized? The clear scriptural answer is a most decided yes. Jesus commanded His disciples, "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age" Matthew 28:19,20. Later, on the Day of Pentecost, the apostle Peter said, "Repent, and let everyone of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of your sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit" Acts 2:38.
Scriptural example shows that even in a rare instance in which someone receives the Holy Spirit without first being baptized, baptism should still be administered Acts 10:44-48.

Bless, O Lord, this home.
Fill each room with Your Presence.
Teach us anew how to live here without hurting each other
by harsh words and unkind actions.
Deepen our trust in one another so tat we can honestly accept each other as we are.
Show us that here we do not have to impress.
In such fellowship-help us to know You better so that we in turn may be unafraid to know ourselves.
And as we go back into the world-help us to go forth with
our confidence. Amen. Blasise Levai
The Call To Humility
The wise man said, "A man's pride brings him low, but a man of lowly spirit gains honor." Pride is a terrible thing, a ruining thing, a blinding thing. It is very opposite of that attitude and way of life which Jesus of Nazareth embodied, and to which He calls us: humility. In calling us to humility (even as He has called us to love), Jesus calls us to Himself. He calls us to become as He is.

Who Wrote The Bible?
The prophets gave God's messages by voice and pen while they lived, and when they died, their writings lived after them. These prophetic messages were then gathered together, under God's leading, in the book we call the Bible.
But how reliable are these writings?
"You must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet's own interpretation. For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit."-2 Peter 1:2o,21.
The Holy Spirit revealed to the prophets the messages of Scripture. The writers of the Bible wrote not according to their own will or whim, but only as they were moved, or controlled, by the Spirit of God.

The Creation
Genesis 1:1-2
In the beginning God Created the heavens and the earth.
Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness covered the surface of the watery depths, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters.
The Good News!
God loves you, and wants you to know and Love Him.
He offers you peace and joy and a fulfilled life.
The Bible says,
"Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you" (John 14:27).
The Good News!
God loves you.
He offers you the peace and joy of knowing Him.

The Paradox In Old Testament Prophecy
God's revelation that "the way up is down" did not suddenly begin with the New Testament teaching. The prophets had spoken clearly.
He has showed you, O man, what is good.
And what does the Lord require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with God.
....This is the one I esteem: he who is humble and contrite in spirit, and trembles at my word.
For this is what the high and lofty One says-he who lives forever, who name is holy: "I live in a high and holy place, but also with him who is contrite and lowly in spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly and to revive the heart of the contrite.

Sin Brings Slavery
Paul speaks of those who were one the "servants of sin" who are now "free from sin." (Romans 6:20-22.)
When Adam sinned, he plunged the whole human race into sin. He became a sinner by sinning. The sinful nature that entered into Adam has passed on to all of us.
This means that you have a sinful nature-a wicked heart. You were born with it. That is why you sin-because you are a sinner. You are by nature a child of wrath. (see Ephesians 2:3.)
"The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked" (Jeremiah 17:9).

Headed The Wrong Way?
God calls us to repent.
God says that unless you repent you will perish (Luke 13:3). No one can have peace with God unless he repents, for repentance to His will.
God commands men to "repent..and believe the gospel" (Mark 1:15). Paul preached "repentance towards God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ" (Acts 20:21).
God commands all men everywhere to repent of their sin (Acts 17:30).
Sin is refusing God His right to govern me even though He made me. Sin is rebellion against God. It is the determination to please myself, no matter what God says. It is saying in my heart, "I'm going to have my own way regardless of God's claims upon me. "Do you realize that you have lived like this?

After Death?
At this moment you are alive, you breathe, you move about or work. You may be living in comfort or existing in misery. The sun rises and sets; somewhere a child is being born; but also somewhere, someone is always dying.
ALL OF LIFE IS ONLY A TEMPORARY ARRANGEMENT.
BUT WHERE WILL YOU GO AFTER DEATH?
Whether you are religious, or simply do not believe in any religion-You still need to settle this most important question, because after a brief earth-life, man goes to his destiny. (Ecclesiastes 12:5)
But Where?
The cemetery where you will be buried cannot entomb your soul. Though your body was burned at the cremation pyre, it could not consume your soul. If you perished in the depth of the sea, your soul would not drown.
YOUR SOUL WILL NEVER DIE! THE GOD OF HEAVEN AND EARTH HAS SAID, "ALL SOULS ARE MINE."
Some place in the hereafter your soul, "the real you," will meet the deeds done while your body was still alive (in this life)-whether good or bad. Refer to Hebrews 9:27.
You may worship sincerely.
You may even restore for your bad deeds.
You may even restore the which was stolen.
Surely these are all necessary-
BUT
You cannot atone for your own sins.
The GOD of Heaven, the righteous Judge of all the earth knows your sins and life-nothing is hidden from Him. You, with your sins can never enter the bliss and glory of the future world.
But, this same Heavenly God is a God of love. He has designed a way for the redemption of your life and your soul. You need not be cast into everlasting doom and hell fire. God sent Jesus into this world to save your soul. Jesus took your sins upon Himself when He suffered and died on the cross of Calvary. God gave the best heaven as a sacrifice for your sins. "But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed" (Isaiah 53:5) These words were prophesied about Jesus many years before He came to Earth.

Following Jesus:
Too Difficult Or Too Distracted?
It takes true dedication to follow Jesus:
When Jesus saw the crowd around him, he gave orders to cross to the side of the lake. Then a teacher of the law came to him and said, "Teacher, I will follow you where ever you go."
Jesus replied, "Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head."
Another disciple said to him, "Lord, first let me go and bury my father." But Jesus told him, "Follow me, and let the dead bury their own dead."
Stil another man said, "I will follow you, Lord; but first let me go back and say good by to my family."
Jesus replied, "No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God."
Jesus calls us to a decisive disciple of disciple-ship. He calls us to a realness of life beginning with a humble heart. He calls each of us to follow God's will, admitting that "I" cannot lead my life properly. We must first have the courage to admit our weaknesses, because the greatest obstacle is a refusal to glorify God "as God." Every human being must confront this primary question: Who is Number One? We dare to assume that it could be ourselves.
In our development of a selifish egotism, we find ourselves attempting to occupy that place which belongs only to God. The world is not ours to control: it belongs only to the will of God. We must understand and come to grips wit whatJesus meant when He asked, "What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul?" And yet, we've even become willing to risk losing our lives for the sake of gaining, not the whole world, but just a tiny, tiny portion of it.

The Truth About Love
Love is not "one of the virtues of Christianity."
"Real" love is 'real" Christianity and "real" Christianity is love. We should not think of love as one of the most important things that Christians have to do; rather, this one thing is the Christian's "whole" business. He has no other concern.
The spectrum of love's expressions may be so broad and multi-colored that our definition of Christianity itself must stretch beyond the boundaries of Bible classes and church buildings.
Narrow ideas about Christianity usually co-exist with shallow thinking about love; deep, genuine Christianity thrives on deep love. That is why the Good News about Israel's Messiah, Jesus Christ, couldn't remain confined within the old wine skins. It is a gospel of love that is too big to be held within any single nation or culture.
We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love our brothers. Anyone who does not love remains in death.

The Love of God
An evangelist preached on the love of God portrayed in the crucifixion. He told how Pilate said, "I find no fault in this man." That did something to Don. "I found fault with all the hypocrites, and I said all the preachers were just out to make money. But I could find no fault with the divine Son of God that day.
"If the Lord Jesus Christ could save the dying thief on the cross", said the evangelist, "He can save any thief in this prison today who will submit to Him. The Bible says, "Come now and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they shall be red like crimson, they shall be as wool' Isaiah 1:18".
Don heard 1 Timothy 1:15, "This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners".
While Don Price was breaking into the Varsity Club in Indianapolis, Indiana, at 2:00 in the morning, a merchant policeman struck a pistol under Don's arm and pulled the trigger. The bullet crashed within an eighth-inch of his heart, collapsed his lung, and lodged on top of his spine.
While 75 men flied out of their seats and went down the aisle to publicly receive Christ, Don gripped the seat in front of him and hung on. He said, "I won't go down the aisle and 'cop' out to a sky pilot. I did the crime. I can do the time."
Then he thought about his family. Yes, he had done the crime and he could to the time, but his wife and children on the outside were doing the time right along with him. And his wife was slaving away to make a living for the family while he sat behind prison bars.

THE NEW BIRTH
By John David Clark,Sr.
The phrase, "You must be born again," came from Jesus himself. The Lord made that statement to Nicodemus, a respected elder of Israel, who "came to Jesus by night,"
Jesus made it clear to his night time visitor that he was speaking of the nation of Israel as a whole when he told him,"You must be born again." They were already God's people by virtue of being born physically as Jews, yet there was great change coming that would require them to be born again-this time spiritually-in order to remain God's people.
Jesus compared the new birth to unpredictable wind. He said, "The wind blows where ever it will, and you hear its sounds, but you don't know where it's coming from or where it's going. So you don't know where it's coming from or were it is going. So it is with everyone who is born of the "Spirit" (Jn. 3:8). These words are the greatest importance, for in them Jesus has given us a description of the new birth that applies to"everyone who is born of the Spirit." In other words, Jesus has given us a sign which lets us know who is born again and who is not.
We Are All Sinners
We are all born with a sinful nature-prone to sin. All we are like sheep have gone astray. None doeth good, no, not one. No one can say he is free from sin. It is man's very nature to lie, cheat, and steal. From childhood we did many things we knew were wrong. When we came to adulthood, we still found we were apt to do those very same things. Sin has its reward-it will not go unpunished. (Read Galatians 6:8). We have no way of ourselves to atone for our sins, and sin will never enter heaven. So where does that leave us? Out in the cold with no hope, unless we repent.
